WHO WE ARE
Background of BAI
BOKAMOSO ACADEMIC INITIATIVE is a youth development organisation which was established in 2016 June by Mr RAMOTHWALA M and Mr MALATJI P.J. The two gentlemen have obtained their Bachelor of Education degrees (B.Ed), one in University of Johannesburg and the other in University of Limpopo, majoring in Sciences stream subjects, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Mathematics.

It functions at the premises of Makhaka high school, situated in a rural area called Makgakgapatse Village, under Mopani District of Limpopo. It consists of students and student teachers who are enrolled at South African tertiary institutions such as Wits, UJ, UL, TUT, UNIVEN and UP. BAI also have novice professionals in distinct fields of work.

There are variety of undergraduate and postgraduate students that assist with the teaching lessons and development of the projects within it that yield development in communities. It was formally legalized or registered as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) at the Department of Social Development on 16 March 2018. Its reference number 205-935 NPO.
Main goals of BAI
WHAT WE DO
The main emphasis is about giving back to the communities by uplifting the youth (school pupils) and communities at large.

The aim of the initiative is to bring radical change, transformation, development, economic stability and create awareness in underprivileged societies around rural communities in Limpopo, Mopani District by utilizing campaigns, workshops and educational programmes.
​
BAI offers Winter Enrichment lessons whereby we educate and assist fellow senior and FET phase learners with the aid of technology devices in an effective, interesting and meaningful manner.
We also do Career exhibitions Project which prepare learners for higher educational institutions.
BAI hosts English and Mathematics competitions that enhance proficiency on those disciplines in rural areas.
Furthermore, annually, we host Health Awareness Project whereby communities are educated about diseases, prevention and also how to maintain a healthy life, which includes sports activities.
